Querida Familia
This week was a little stressfull.
There is a couple in the branch here Sheila and Alex. Sheila is a member and
Alex isn´t. He never had any interest in the church until recently, when he was
falsely imprison on charges of Drug Trafficking. Sheila fasted and prayed for a
long time that he would be released. He was released after 1 month in prison
and he came out with a new vision of what he needed to do. He went to church
the next day in a white shirt and tie. God had humbled him because of the
prayers of his righteous wife. We went there monday night to have a family
night with them and when we got there she was crying. The police had passed by
and arrested him again 1 hour before the appointment. There was an error in the
prison system and he had to go back. He was so excited to hear and accept the
message of the restauration. He would have been baptized yesterday, but now he
is in prison for a couple more weeks until the lawyers get everything figured
out. Happily Sheila did not lose faith and continued firm in her prayers and
went to every session of conference (she is 7 months pregnant too). She knows
that the miracle will happen after the trail of her faith (depois da prova de
sua fé). But it was good to see how the lord works in our lives. If we don´t humble
ourselves, He will do it for us, and He isn´t too gentle when He does. But it
is true that EVERY knee shall bow and tongue confess that Jesus in the Christ.
We also had another exchange this
week, Elder Slight (DL) worked with me. It was good to be with an american
again. We taught a funny old man and his grandson. This old guy started to go
off on a rant about how the time has changed. He talked about robbers and drugs
and how adam and eve ate the fruit and this is why there are black people and why
everyone is different, then he told a story about when he was on the ranch. He
talked nonstop for about 5 minutes, then we forgot about him and taught his
grandson instead. He never did stop talking and then at the end of the lesson
we put all the catholic prayers together in one giant prayer.
And we were doing visits with Our
recent convert felipe and his sandal broke in the street, so we left him on the
street corner and ran to the store and bought him new sandals (the cheapest
ones we could find :))
But the best part of the
week......RAIN!!!! it rained! finally! Saturday and Sunday it rained alot.
Really cooled off the city and for the first time I slept without the fan
running!
Transfers are tomorrow and we are
expecting a change. I´ll let you know what happens!
Love you all!
