eis que, depressa venho Behold, I come quickly 10-24-2014

10-24-2014
Assistants to the President- October 2014

Dear everyone

this week we had our MissionTour, it went very well. Elder Antunes was wonderful. we learned so much. I spent monday until wednesday night in the chapel. Monday night we were in the chapel until 11:00 at night getting everything ready. But it all turned out perfect. We learned so much. But i am excited to tell you all about it.

The thing that i most learned about was doing the right things for the right motives. Everything we do as a missionary we do it to please the Lord, (or we should be doing it for Him) but sometimes we forget and that is when we stop to see the miracles and start to have trials. Just like the people of jared, the nephites, the lamanites etc. When in righteousness they were blessed, when they forget the lord they were tried. In 2 timothy 2:15 " 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
In english it is a little more confusing, but it says that we need to seek to present oursevles approved unto God, that we need to be someone that doesn´t have anything to be ashamed about and that we need to know how to handle the world of god. That is what we learn to be as a missionary. and that is how we all need to become. We need to, every day, leave our house approved unto god. But how do we know if we are approved before God? John 8:29 gives us the answer "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone ; for I do always those things that please him. "  If the Father is with us, or if the Spirit is with us (for the father, the son, and the holy ghost are one (3 nephi 11:27)) we can know that we were aproved, for we will not be left alone. and all of this because "i always do those things that please Him" This is our constant battle as missionaries and as members. To ALWAYS do those things that please him. In the sacrament prayers we hear, to always remember him. We promise in baptism to take upon us His name and to serve Him to the end. It is Him, It is all His and it is He who we need to follow. One more scripture John 14:11-15
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If Ye love me, keep my commandments."
His promise is that we can do the works He did and that we can do even Greater works than He did. so long as the Glory goes unto the Father. He Promises that whatsoever we shall ask, He will do, so long as the glory goes to the Father. He will do anything for us, so long as the Glory goes to the Father, and that we show our love unto him and keep His commandments. because
"all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you...And secondly, he doth require that ye should do as he hath commanded you; for which if ye do, he doth immediately bless you; and therefore he hath paid you."

This is who i have tried to become, this is who i need to become. On this mission i held various positions of leadership. I have been an example to hundreds of missionaries. Elder Antunes said 'Seu exemplo não é só por hoje, é para sempre' "Your example is not just for today, it is forever ' I had a lot of responsability on the mission alot of missionaries looking to me, and i still do, nothing changed.

I know that Christ lives. I know what needs to be done and learned in a very real way how to do it. I love my Savior, I love this gospel and I will serve you until the end. As a missionary my purpose was to invite people to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit and endure to the end. this is still my purpose and always will be. I will do whatever the Lord asks of me and because I love him, and I always do what pleases him. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

Preparations for the Mission Tour 10/18/2014

So this week we have been running around to prepare for the mission tour, to do a  transfer and to receive new misisonaries and kill off old ones :)

This morning we clean our house from head to toe, because we will have a seventy come and visit our house on tuesday.

But i am not going to talk alot about this even though a major part of my week was for this.

In our area we have made some good plans to get things going. Yesterday we had lunch with the bishop and he gave us 4 families as referalls. 1 - Marcelo, he is a less ative member for more than 20 years. He is a lawyer, he has a wife and 2 kids who do not know anything about the church
2 - Renato, he is less ative for more than 20 years, he served in the Curitiba Brazil mission, was as Assistant to the President, but now he is less ative, he lives alone
3 - Vivian, She is renato´s sister, also less ative for more than 20 years, has a husband and some children
4 - Sandra, less ative for more than 20 years, she was baptized when she was 15 and Elder McConkie was at her baptism.
all of the above have a very high class lifestyle

So we´ve got our work cut out for us. We visited sandra yesterday at her jewelry store. We just showed up and started to chat, She said, "i dont know what it is, but the look you two give me goes right to the soul and makes me nervous" then she said, "well i do know what it is, because i know who you represent." She is coming to church on sunday

We haven´t been able to talk with the other 3 yet, but we will see some miracles happen.

Sorry about the short letter this week we have a lot to do today to finish off the preparations, but i´ll have some great stories to share with you all soon.;

Abraço

Picanha na Chapa 10-11-14

I know how dad feels. Cada vez que eu encosto em algum lugar, eu durmo.  Every time I sit somewhere, I sleep.

So this week was a blast. Last saturday we really enjoyed the conference, after the last session we were waiting for our investigatoor to come to the church for his baptism. we called him and he didn´t answer, we got really worried, but we waited patiently. 1 hour after he said he would be there we tried to call him again, but he didn´t answer, but when we turned around we saw him entering into the chapel. What a releif. It was a good baptism.

Sunday was very interesting. because it was conference all of the missionaries of the BH Stake were in the chapel. IT was really interesting to see all of the diferences in companionship between them. There were some duplas that were closer to each other than others. There were some that were having some problems, Between the sessions all of the missionaries needed to hit the streets and do contacts with everyone. It was prety cool to see the wave of missionaries hit the streets.

Monday was another busy day, we had a lot of things to still work out for mission Tour and whatnot, so we just worked at night in our area.

Tuesday was also an interesting day. We started the day off going to a zone meeting in BH Leste. (zone meeting is a meeting done by the zone leaders and we came by suprise) But it was interesting because when we got to the chapel we started to notice some strange things. Broken windows, broken doors, the bars to the stake presidents office were sawn off and there were drops of blood and footprints on the ground, it looked like a horror movie. Because we didn´t know if hte person was still there we left the chapel with all of the missionaries and decided to go to another chapel that was close. In all, the meeting was good and everyone was safe. IT seems like this is something that happens enough in that chapel so nobody was really too worried, there wasn´t anything to steal anyway. After the crazy meeting we did a division in Barroca BH Oeste. There were two missionaries that were having plenty of difficulties so we went to go "help them out" (or you could say, put them in line) There were a few things that needed adjusting to we went to make some adjustments. That is one big part of our jobs, we are the adjusters of things that need adjusting.

Wednesday we did some more adjusting. There was another dupla in the Palmeiras Ward that were also having some problems, and this guy is the district leader. We left our house at 5:45 in teh morning and got to their house at 6:15. We have the keys to all of the houses in the mission. We let ourselves in and waited to see if they were waking up at 6:30; well they were but the had a nice surprise to see the assistants in their bedroom. we had a nice talk with the DL to adjust some things and we made some goals with him. then we left at 8 and took another bus to do a division with the Zone Leaders of BH Oeste. One of them was called zone leader recently so we went to train him. We didn´t need to do any "adjusting" there because they are already exceptional missionaries.

Thursday to Sunday we are in Paraopeba and Caetanopolis, 2 small cities that are side by side. We are here in paraopeba to open the church to these cities. We have 1 active family here in the city that travel to Sete Lagoas to go to church. So now we are bringing the church to them. We are having a great time bringing the gospel to these people and its been a pretty cool experience. We excited the family enough because we printed a church plaque and put it on their house. I´ll send pictures next week about how it was.  This sunday we will have the 1st church meeting here so its going to be a different experience. Its gonna be chique de mais!

Today was a special p-day. We had pday with president and sister fortunato. They took us and the secretaries to a famous cave nearby. I´ll send some cool pictures next week. After the cave we went to a really cool restaruante and had Picanha na chapa, and alot of it. Picanha is a high class type of beef that we don´t have in the states and it was on the iron plate thing sizzling hot. It was super good. we got back just a little bit ago.

So that is my week, there is stil so much to do and so little time to do it. i´m busy and i am happy. there isn´t time to think about coming home, i still have realized that it is so close, and i dont think i´ll even realized it when i get home. But thats the way it goes.

Well still so much to do today and so little time to do it.

Love you all

by plane, by bus, by train - o cansaço enorme 10-4-14

Dear Family.

This week was non stop! monday we had to do all that we needed to do in the office and then catch a bus to Ipatinga to be there for the conference on the next day.

Tuesday we had conference in ipatinga and then we ran to get a taxi to catch our train back to BH.
Ipatinga went by train to BH after the conference

Wednesday we stayed in the office from 7 am to 2 am the next day.

Thursday we had a meeting with the Mission Leadership

Friday: We had to run after some missionaries who had gotten split up on the bus.

Today is conference so i can´t really sleep through it and we have a baptism

Tomorrow is also Conference and we have another baptism

and thats my week.

Now here are the details:

Wednesday we had a meeting with president in the morning to start to prepare for Mission Tour that will happen in 2 weeks. We had to plan on in the world we were going to bring 200 missionáries to bh and know what is going to happen with all of them. We were going to have our mission leadership counsel the next day so it all had to be ready. so that is why were we up until 2:00 am. We have missionaries coming in by plane, by bus and by train.

Thursday we had a really good meeting with the ZLs it was a very strong spiritual feeling

Friday there was a small transfer and they got lost. so we did a little bit of running around, but it all turned out in the end.

So what i have been thinking this week has been about Santification and dedication. I´m in the final sprint, so i´ve got to be more focused and more dedicated than i ever was. There are so many things that still have to happen that i dont have time to think about anything else, i can´t even think about me.

This week i told the zone leaders that they needed to search out a feeling, some type of revelation and then they need to go with the feeling and just get going. One time president said that when we follow the spirit we are doing god´s will. Sometimes the will of god is alot different than ours. Sometimes we need to do something that we don´t necessarily want to. Some times we want to be in one place, when he needs us to stay put, where we are at. Sometimes we are looking so hard for something, that HIS answer is right in front of us. Follow the spirit and we will always be well.

Love you all, good conference
