So on sunday, we played FBI. At about 7 o clock in the morning President called us and told us to run to the rodoviaria (bus station) to help him find a missionary who had fled in the early morning. His companion had woken up and he was alone. So we ran to the rodoviaria to look for this missionary. We knew that the only bus that would go to São Paulo would leave at 8:00 so we had some time, but we were not finding him, finally it was getting close to the boarding time, so we went down to where the busses were and as we went down the stairs we saw him in line to get on the bus. and ran to get him. we came up behind him and put our arms on his shoulders and said "bom dia Elder L Alves. Como Vai?" Good Morning Elder. he looked at us surprised that we found him, and then president showed up and talked with him for a little bit, he made some calls, talked to him a little more, and then put him on the bus to go home. The missionary did not want to stay on the mission, so he went home. It was a really sad thing to see, but i learned alot about own right to chose. We can´t force anyone to do anything. Then we went to church. That night we had another musical in another stake that worked really well, it was a little less stressful than the last one.
Then on monday night we went to work in our area, returned to the office to do a transfer and left the office at 10:45 at night with President.
Then on Tuesday we had more missionaries come. We got two more from the states and Elder Santana came back to the mission. It was pretty cool to see his face when he saw me at the airport to get him. Then that afternoon we had a transfer to do, and then after the transfer we planned a little bit for a Zone Leader Conference, went out to visit Icaro with the Bishop and then came back to the office at 9:00 and kept planning for the ZLC until midnight, and then we went home and slept for a little bit
Then on wednesday we had our Zone Leader Conference, which was super good. we talked about how we can do better division with the missionaries, how we can help them grow and then how we can follow up on the progress better. we showed this picture that i made
and everyone was super excited. President especially liked it.
Then after the conference we divided with two of hte Zone leaders for a couple of hours in our own area and found a new investigator and a less ative who will both come to church on sunday. and then that night we divided with teh secretaries to do an interview and visit two progressing investigators who are going to be baptized this afternoon.
Then on Thursday we did a division in another area that has been 5 months without baptisms. We walked alot (about 30 km in total) because their lunch was super far away and we had to walk back to where they were working and then in the area to find people to teach. But we found some people and there will be a baptism there today and a few more next week. :)
Then on Friday we had lunch with the Bishop, visited own investigators, returned to the office during the game (brasil won......) and at night did another division with the secretaries to teach everyone we needed to. I went with elder dunford and we visited a less ative family that is returning and invited to daughter to be baptized today, and she will be. Icaro was interviewed, but has some complicated things to work out, so president is going to interview him today and then he will be baptized tonight.
This evening at 5, we will have a baptism of 4 people and then at 7:30 one or two more. We are very excited for tonight. Só Milagres!
as for the fourth of july, we sang the national anthem and went back to work. :) During the games it is just like sodom and gomorah here. Babilonia! Everyone is drinking, partying, just crazyness. but it will not stop the work. We are baptizing more now than ever. So its been pretty good.
Até a semana que vem com fotos dos baptismos :)
Abraço
Elder Applegate
