Crazy Week and Answers to Prayers May 24, 2014

May 24, 2014
Family

I´ve had my testemony of prayer grow so much this week. So here are the highlights of the week.

To start off, President and Sister Fortunato were not in the mission this week, they had went to a mission presidentes seminar in São Paulo, so we were left with the mission for 3 days. but while they were gone nothing went wrong, so it was all just fine.

Mondays are always busy because everyone comes to the office on monday to get materials and letters and junk.

Tuesday was just normal

Wednesday was the crazy day. We had to go to the federal police to renew our visas and it took so long, 3 and a half hours. then we had to have lunch. after lunch we had to run to catch the bus to another area to do a division, then we had to run to catch another bus to  get back to the office to take a missionary to the airport for her to go home. then we had to take another bus to the airport. When we got to the airport the missionary asked "do you guys have my passport"......well we didn´t. i called elder Dunford and asked him if it was in the release envelope and he said "hooooly crap" I was with Elder Jeurgens the financial secretary and Elder Sonnefeld was with Elder Dunford. They ran (literally) back to the office to get the passport....but we remembered that the room that has the passports was locked and the key was with Elder Jeurgens and we were 1 hour away from the office and the missionary´s flight was going to leave in 3 hours and she had to check in and still be interview by president. So we decided to say a prayer. I prayed that 1st the door would be opened and 2nd thatElder Dunford and Elder Sonnefeld would find the best taxi driver in town and that 3rd the angels would go in front of them and clear the traffic up. Then after the prayer we just had to wait. Meanwhile in the office, they didn´t have a key, so here is what happened. They tried to call a locksmith but nobody was answering, so Elder Dunford broke the door down. (see the picture)
Well they got the passport and called the taxi, it was this crazy little brasilian who had no fear whatsoever, so they got to the airport pretty quickly and in the end it all worked out. it wsa pretty crazy and super stressful, but i learned that the lord really answeres prayers, even crazy desperate ones. The door was opened, the taxi driver was good and the traffic was clear. During all of this, Presidente was getting back from são paulo, so we also had to explain this all to him. But presidente is really pacient and very calm, so he said "is it going to work out right" and i said, "yes" then he said, "well then its all just fine, lets learn some things so we dont have to break the door again"

Thursday - We took a plane to Montes Claros, one of those little ones that has 2 propelers. yeah.
We woke up very early, took a taxi (the drivers name was keith richards) and got on a plane. in 1 hour we were already in Montes Claros. So much better than the bus!
Then we did a division in Montes Claros and had Conference on Friday IT wsa pretty cool to be back where i was again

After the conference on Friday our bus would leave at 4:30 (yes we took the bus home) We left the chapel at 4, i called a taxi to come and get us, but he didn´t show up, so i said a prayer asking for help. it was 4:26. We were at a stoplight and i felt like a should ask someone if they could give us a lift. I knocked on a car window and asked and he said, sure thing! We found out that his dad was a member from another city and we got to the bus station at 4:32 caught the bus and got home safely. Another experiece that the lord hears and answers are crazy desperate prayers. so yeah, that was my week. I love being a missionary.]

I hope you all have a great week.
Love ya!
Elder Applegate
